Pieces I did while studying art for A level (2013 -2014)

Kodak Brownie Monoprint

A monoprint of an old Kodak Brownie camera! To create this I spread black printing ink evenly onto a clean surface and made sure it was rolled out using an ink roller so it was matt (not shiny). Then I placed a piece of thin paper (like blank newspaper) on top. I put my image of the camera on top of this paper and held everything secure using masking tape. I then drew over the image using a range of different tools. Eg: Highlighters give a softer effect and a pencil or pen creates a dark sharp line. The ink transfers onto the back of the paper! I really enjoyed doing this piece! 😀

Intaglio dry point Printing

I attended a printmaking workshop (Seacourt Print workshop in Bangor) with my class mates while at school. We were each given a piece of acetate in advance to scratch into using a pin/ needle etc, scratching more densely in more shadowed areas and lighter or no scratches for the highlights. I chose an image of paint brushes in a jar which I took. When we arrived at the workshop we rubbed the ink into the scratches before putting the acetate sheet through a roller printing press which transferred the image onto specially prepared paper.

Here i experimented with different styles. `I attempted two coloured prints , one in more detail, a monochrome print and finally a print with a background pattering using textured wall paper.
