Various buildings and designs i have come across and have found very interesting.

Old Cinema Conversion

I came across this old cinema converted into a restaurant in a back street in Pollença, Mallorca. The large doors of the building drew me in where I saw this old style cinema projector, the original from the cinema. It really intrigued me, this building, as it was designed in a was that it reflected its past.

Mackintosh Chair

IMG_0281

This chair was designed in 1898/9 for Catherine Cranston’s Argyle Street tea rooms in Glasgow city centre by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Mackintosh, a Scottish designer and architect was greatly influenced by nature. The oval head piece of the chair has a cut out reminiscent of a flying bird. He also uses a range of geometric shapes in the creation of the chair, a style he used often in his building and furniture design. Mackintosh also used chair designs similar to this in his own home in Glasgow. Recently I had the opportunity to see his own home design in Glasgow and this chair design at The Lighthouse building.
